What's up Fabric fans!
We are busy compiling a new E.P.
Here's a few basic details for you, it's called "Secretly An Astronaut" and it will feature the songs "Big Plans For The Dead Man", "Coping With Belief" and "Epiphany" as well as various instrumental bits and bobs.
Big Plans is done, completely 100% finished and is sounding fantastic, best recording of anything I've ever done. Only 2 more to go now!
I thought I'd give you a bit of an insight into some of the discussions we've been having as a band and how we arrived at recording these songs in particular. We released The Crow a little while ago really to test the waters, see what it was like putting an E.P. together, what kind of work was required, etc. The songs on that CD really selected themselves because we had old recordings of them and it was easier to just go and redo them rather than start fresh ones from scratch, and proud as we are of the music on that E.P., it's hardly the songs we would have picked if we'd been able to choose. We very much appreciate all the love that fans have shown for those songs, but we're really at a new phase in our life as a band; we're playing different music now, music that's a bit quirkier, a bit more dramatic, and that's why we need a new release.
When we started out we were writing all sorts of songs, just to see what we were good at and what we liked playing. Turns out we like our music moody and intricate, unnerving one minute and soaring the next, so that's where we're heading. This is effectively going to be the first proper Mount Fabric release and we are going to do it properly this time, it'll be properly pressed and printed, and most of all it's gonna contain some blindingly good music that we love and adore. We hope to get it out at the end of the year, 'til then, come and see us at Moho Live on Sept 10th and we'll blast your balls off with the live version!

p.s. We're going to play Lucid for the first time at Moho, it's gonna be amaaaazing!!
This summer has been great for Mount Fabric. After releasing our first EP in May, we've gigged pretty much none stop and played a couple of festivals. We also released some new material in the form of a couple of bonus tracks on the EP, and our first single, 'Contraband'. If you've managed to come down and see us at some point, or have downloaded our music, thank you very much!
We're about to take a short break from playing live to concentrate on our next EP (more info on that soon), as well as working on some new material. We've started using keys and a laptop in rehearsals, and it's sounding great, so we're really looking forward to taking them out live.
We'll be back around the time the EP is released (hopefully some time around October/November), so if you want to catch us one more time this summer, the last two gigs we'll be playing for a while are on Saturday 14th at Jackson's Pit, Oldham, and Sunday 15th as part of the Manchester Bands Union night at Retro Bar, Manchester ( Facebook event here).
As always, thanks for your support; this summer has been a blast and it wouldn't have been half as much fun without you guys.

In other news, we've had some positive reviews for The Crow EP, Here are a few snippets:
" Mount Fabric are held together and taken to the next level by strong cult vocals, catchy melodies and beautiful executed dynamics. This is a band for those who appreciate music that isn’t afraid to be different and clearly contains a vast amount of love and thought in its creation." Music-News.com (full review)
" Alex Marczak adds in a vocal flourish that swaggers between falsetto and a finely honed ability to hit each note perfectly. There’s something here – something exciting." Manchester Music.co.uk (full review)
"Combining the dreamy atmospheres of Blind Melon and Radiohead with the ear candy of Muse and Hot Hot Heat, Mount Fabric’s The Crow EP is a delicious sampling of the bands bright future. Tight, danceable rhythms and guitar tones reminiscent of a Technicolor daydream provide a solid backdrop to the charming vocal work." Mental Pirate - (full review)

It's been a busy couple of months over at the summit of Mount Fabric. Since the release of The Crow EP, we've had a splurge of creativity and have been working non-stop on a whole host of new songs. Obviously we think every song is great, and every new song is even greater, but this new batch are a bit special. We've gone back to what we know and what we do best; quirky riffs, dark soundscapes, epic choruses and, of course, milk curdling falsetto. It's been exciting working on new material and working together well as a band.
We road tested a couple at the Hungry Pigeon festival, then refined them and took them out again at some smaller gigs and they seem to be going down well. "Big Plans For The Dead Man" is a sneery stomp of a song, featuring not one, but two powerful choruses (I'm not sure if you can have more than one chorus, maybe it's a pre-chorus? who knows.). "Coping With Belief" is an exercise in effect-laden delays and super high vocals, while the newest track, "Revelation 4" is shaping up nicely indeed.
Armed with these new songs, and a very talented (and cheap) facepaint artist, Mount Fabric descended on the quiet fields of Cumbria to make some loud noises at our first outdoor appearance, Ravenstonedale Festival! We had a great time and a great set - no PA in a tent should sound that good!
There are some more photos from the festival here. If you've ever wanted to see The Joker play drums, or a tiger play bass, now's your chance.
If you're a fan on facebook, you've probably seen that we released a new track, Trapped Messenger, for free (I know, we're all heart). If you've not heard it yet, grab a free download. If you like it, please share it with your friends!
That's about it for now! If you want to hear some of the new songs, have a look where you can see us live.
